Antique Pewter Teapot |
|
|
No,
it's not really an antique, and it's definitely not pewter, its
another classic ceramic teapot by famous English potter, Paul
Cardew. This
beautiful, cream-colored, 6-cup pot has antique pewter teapots depicted
on it - and one sits proudly on the lid. The big round belly will steep
your favorite teas for everyone to enjoy. And, as so often happens with
Paul Cardew teapots, they quickly become in demand and will be sought by
collectors. |
| Paul
Cardew credits his Granny, who insisted he attend Plymouth
College of Art and Design, for his success. Giving up
the position as Head of Ceramics at Exeter Art College, he
struck out in 1975 to cause a "storm in a teapot" and
over the next few years, established himself at the forefront
of a resurgence of interest in the art form of the "Eccentric
Teapot". The "Cardew" brand
has now become established as the most widely collected
teapots in the world. When asked the age-old question "Which
is his favourite teapot design", he responds by
saying "The next one!"
