Nilgiri Special Frost |
||
An
oolong from India? Yes, and this one is superb. Indian plantation owners
have been trying to capture mystique of producing quality oolongs since
the early 1990's. With this tea, they have succeeded. In southern India at 8,000 ft above sea level lie Nilgiri's Blue Mountains. This rugged mountain range with its rich soil, cool climate and high waterfall produces exquisite teas all year round. This oolong gets its name because the leaves were actually plucked in January and February when temperatures were in the 30s .... which is "Frost" season. The leaves are then whithered with cold frosty air, slowly heat dried and rolled to create long twisted tender leaves, which locks in their unique, complex flavor. From the Burnside Estate this is a superb tea, more complex than Darjeelings, sweet and subtle with a flowery bouquet. Its fragrant, golden liquor will be enjoyed by all oolong lovers. Yes, India now produces high-quality oolongs. You must give it a try. |
