Pinhead Gunpowder

A young English clerk, thinking the tightly rolled balls of green tea looked like gunpowder pellets, is credited with giving this pearl tea its name. Because the tightly rolled shape helps the tea retain its freshness, it was one of the first teas to be exported from China. The tiny pellets tinkle into the cup when the water is added, adding a musical quality.

The brew will have a coppery colour with a fragrant aroma and slightly sweet vegetal taste. In Morocco they enjoy this tea with fresh mint and plenty of sugar.
