Not far from Shanghai in the Jiangsu Province is the city of Yixing. The red clay from this region has been used to create teapots for 2000 years. Now, as then, each piece is shaped by hand and left unglazed. These distinctive clay pots are considered true collectibles. Made from the most porous clay, it is said that the flavor of the tea is enhanced when steeped in an Yixing teapot. Because of their porosity, we strongly recommend using one type of tea per pot. This elegant pot depicts the branch of the plum blossom tree as a handle and spout. 14oz., 5" high, rinse only. ORDER A-0028 - |
