Camel caravans were used to transport tea to Russia during the 17th and 18th centuries. These caravans, numbering 200 to 300 camels, each carrying hundreds of pounds of tea, made the ardous journey of over 11,000 miles, taking 16 months or more. During this journey, the teas being transported took on the unique aroma and smokey taste of the campfires. This black tea enjoyed by the Russians was made from the large, robust Souchong leaf. This superb brew takes smokey Lapsang Souchong and China blacks for a tea reminiscent of these romantic caravans.

Rich, smokey and robust, this brew has a bright, red colour and very fragrant aroma. Enjoy the colour, the shape of the leaves and the warmth of the cup in your hand, a very special tea.
To Prepare
Russian Caravan
is best when brewed with spring water at a temperature of 212° for 5 minutes (although you may enjoy a longer steeping time). We recommend one teaspoon for every 8 ounces. Enjoy this tea through 2 infusions.
