Tetsubin Teapot |

Throughout
the 18th Century, the tetsubin was an ordinary household utensil
used to heat water, prepare tea, and even create warmth. But by the
early 19th Century, tetsubin designs ranged from very simple to elaborate.
The more intricately designed tetsubin commanded the highest prices.
The design or style of a tetsubin reflected the class of its owner,
and thus came to be a symbol of status. This cobalt blue 15oz. cast iron pot has a very large stainless mesh infusing basket to allow the leaves plenty of room to infuse the brew. The footed cast iron trivet allows the pot to go safely from flame to table. Coated on the inside with a clear enamel glaze to prevent any metallic properties from affecting the tea. $59.95ORDER CG-0102 |
