Tukvar Estate Darjeeling (2nd flush) |
||
|
Planted
in 1852, the Tukvar Estate (now known as Puttabong) is the first tea
estate in the history of Darjeeling. Just 9 kilometers northeast
of Darjeeling City, it reaches an altitude of 6,500 feet at its highest
point and covers over 22 kilometers. Tukvar takes great pride in
creating exquisite Darjeeling teas and in 1992, Tukvar commanded
the highest price ever paid at auction for its tea. The
Tukvar Estate is also socially responsible. With over 3,000 people
living and working on their estate, they ensure their workers are
provided with housing, schools, medical and dental facilities. This classic Darjeeling produces a clear, brisk cup with an exquisite bouquet with its distinctive "Muscatel" character. The second flush plucking (end of May through June) produces a more fully developed tea than first flush (March through April). To be enjoyed all day, every day. |
