Yixing
Tea for Two |
|
Yixing teapots come from the Yixing region located 120 miles northwest of Shanghai. Artisans utilize this purple clay, which contains natural minerals, to create beautiful products of various colors. They possess an astonishing history dating back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The Yixing teapot has maintained its unique reputation both in China and abroad. Artisans making these collectible teapots must serve an apprenticeship under the guidance of established masters. They receive rigorous training in all aspects of their craft before mastering their techniques. Now, as then, each piece is shaped by hand and left unglazed. These distinctive clay pots are considered true collectibles. This three-piece set is made for sharing. Because of the porosity of this clay, we strongly recommend using one type of tea per pot. For you and your guest, we know you'll enjoy this classic 15 oz pot with its elaborate carved lid, 5" high, rinse only. ORDER
